Viola Arduini (b.1987, Italy)

Viola Arduini is an Italian artist, researcher, and educator who exploresthe relationship between humans, the ecosphere, andtechnology. She uses a variety of media, from photography to computer science,from biology to writing, to create paths that connect art to science, and thehuman to the more-than-human.  

Viola received a Bachelor of Arts from NABA New Academy of Fine Arts, Milano, (Italy),a Master of Arts in Documentary Photography from the University of South Wales,Newport (United Kingdom), and a Master of Fine Arts in Art & Ecology fromthe University of New Mexico in 2019.  She is also a current student in the Biotechnologyprogram at Central New Mexico Community College in Albuquerque (USA). 

Her work has been included in group exhibitions in the US andEurope. She received numerous grants and scholarships, as theMaryann Evans Scholarship for Graduate Students in Art Studio, the AndrewMellon Foundation for Art & Ecology Fellowship, and a Research Grant from the Culture and Animal Foundation. Recentlyshe has been an artist in residence for the Revolution Residency at the SantaFe Art institute in 2022 and she is currently a Shared.Futures 2023 fellow atUNM. Viola works as an art educator and administrator in New Mexico andcollaborates with national and international networks to expand dialoguesengaging art and science.
